DOLL DREAM Multi-media collage over original drawing on paper plus details

Dolls and models are effigies. They are passive objects created to support the whims and designs of those who manipulate them.
Children project their fantasies onto dolls and bend them to their will.
So do adults. Models are mannequins; hangers for the most creative fashion ideas... living canvasses for other people's art.
These made-up, dependably malleable and motionless figures are charming to play with. But if they become active, with thoughts and desires of their own... whoa! They can be scary.

CHRISTMAS DOLLY The original b&w photo was the base for gold leaf, oil paint and collage

DOLLS

MODELS

I shot the original photographs of the dolls. I then used oil paint to color and add to the images.

Collage over original b+w photograph

I allow the subject to dictate the medium. The original 20"x 23" b&w photo was a photo taken of me
whenI was a model.
I made it the base for oil paint and collage, then went to the computer
to get the slick look of a magazine cover.

The b&w photos of myself were taken by various photographers who
were"testing" for portfolios during the late 60s and '70s.
The mixed-media additions were mine. They were done in the 1980's.
